ATACAMA DESERT

Atacama Desert it's the Driest desert in the world . However, this Earth is a place where almost never rains, when the sun's rays fall on bare ground relentless, where life seems to have existed. This, the most arid in the world, a place also hides the fascinating secrets of nature.
Thousands of square kilometers of inert soils, enclosed between the Andes and the Pacific Ocean from Arica to beyond Calama, shape the Atacama Desert. There the lack of rain is almost absolute, occasional rainfall recorded ten or more years, not exceeding a few millimeters.

from the ocean to the east, the land is lower, forming a broad valley between mountains. The Andes to the east and the Coast Range to the west.

From Arica to the south the wide band receives various alterations. The desert plateau reaches 1,400 meters at the northern end level down as you go meridionally; deep gorges between pampas appear at the bottom of run trickles of water, rivers in the desert, interrupting the flat sequences of different materials handling fees.

North of Iquique the hills murallón water plunges almost giddy from the thousand meters. South of Taltal and south of Caldera, cactus vegetation is multiplied.

The rivers in the desert are also gentle backwaters in aridity as the eye rests with green miracle of irrigation, either alfalfa or dark gray salt grasses. A backwater they drink not only pets until surly lama, foxes, owls, butterflies and wasps.
